Uno teams to send 25k pizzas to soldiers - Boston Business Journal:

Last month the nonprofitt organization Pizzas 4 Patriots launched and teamed up with the expressw delivery organization DHLand Uno, with a plan to servre up more than 25,000 pizzas to U.S. servicre men and women in time forJuly 4th. The charitable effor has been dubbed “Operation Pizzwa Surge.” If successful in servingh over 25,000 pizzas, operationn pizza surge will bethe word’s largest pizza party, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Ret. Maste Sergeant Mark Evans of ElkGrove Village, Ill., organized the event.
Evanw has teamed with DHL to fill a donaterd cargo jet with upto 28,000 deep-dish pizzas bought at a reducec price from Uno, which is basee in West Roxbury, Mass. The pizzas will be picked up at an Uno facility in Brockton, Mass. in late June, loaded onto truckds and eventually flown out from JFK Airport in New York to the Middle East in time forthe “Uno is honored to be part of operation pizza surge,” said Frank Guidara, Uno’s CEO and a Vietnaj Veteran, in a prepared writtenj statement. “We have tried for years, without to send pizzas to our service men andwomeb overseas.
This partnership with Evans and Pizzas 4 Patriots will finally allowa us toaccomplish that, and we are exciteed and proud.”
