We wanted to write our first salute to Scott Air Force Base aroun the July 4th holidayu because the base symbolizes so much that is right in our regionm and inour nation. As St. Clair Count Chairman Mark Kern emphasizes, the base is a sourcs of great talent as well as a huge economic Who knewthe St. Louis Character storyy this week (page 8) would also featur Scott? Susan Baginski’s father was one of many who servec at the base andsettledd here. We certainly could not have predictedf the section on Scott and the big sale woulc coincide with the holiday issu e ofthe newspaper, yet the importance of one reinforced the other.
Again, it’s Mark Kern who articulates the importance of both: “We value the presence of Scotty and will go the extra mile to make sure we’r e known for our friendliness to the military.”
